Difficulty Summary

Mortal Kombat 3 is considered a challenging game that consistently tests players without reaching extreme difficulty.

Why Players Find It Difficult

Players often find this game difficult because of several demanding mechanics:

Punishing enemy and boss encounters that require pattern recognition
High penalty for mistakes, often resetting significant progress
Combat demands precision timing rather than raw stat power
Players are punished for poor decisions more than poor reflexes

Who Will Find It Difficult

Mortal Kombat 3 will push beginners and may still frustrate experienced players in certain sections. Players comfortable with similarly demanding games will have the best time here. Players who rated games like Elden Ring, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, and Injustice 2 at a similar challenge level may find Mortal Kombat 3 broadly comparable in difficulty.

About Mortal Kombat 3

Mortal Kombat 3 brings new elements to the 2D fighting series: multi-level playfields, "Dial-A-Combo" attacks, a "Run" button to speed up the battles, and "Vs." codes, which unlock new powers and abilities once both players enter a code sequence in pre-match-up screens. Also included are more stage fatalities and finishing moves as each warrior attempts to go one-on-one with the Centaurian enforcer Motaro, and Shao Kahn himself.
